Slapstik Skateboard Art was inspired by the iconic work of Jim Phillips and V. Courtland Johnson, and artists who followed: Todd Bratrud, Mike Hill, and Marc Mckee, who broke the templates set by their predecessors.

Slapstik Skateboard Art is a platform for skateboarders from all over the U.S. to apply their artwork to limited productions of decks, clothing, and accessories, and push the boundaries of skateboard product design. Each deck will be signed and numbered 1 of 50, by the artist and available for from the SSA online store, and skateshops carrying SSA. Artists apply their work to the logo, curate an exhibit, and promote the release event in anyway they wish. Deck releases will occur at the skateshop or art gallery of the artist’s choosing.

By limiting the quantities of the products, and changing the context in which they are released, skateboard decks and accessories become collectables upon their release without the 10 year lapse between its debut and its resurfacing on Ebay at 5 times the retail price. By changing the context in which the skateboard is presented to the public,Slapstik Skateboard Art can expand the view upon release to be seen as fine art at an accessible price.

On this site you will also find the fine art work of Shawn Beeks, listed under ART.
